Dr. Claudia Ortega is a staff radiologist at the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (UHN, Sinai Health and Women’s College Hospital), with cross appointment in Molecular Imaging and Abdominal Division.
She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Santiago, Chile, and completed her residency training at the Catholic University of Chile. After being a staff radiologist and Associated professor in her forming centre (Catholic University), Dr. Ortega pursued an Abdominal Fellowship and two years of combined Research and Clinical fellowship at the Molecular Imaging division at University of Toronto.
She is affiliated with multiple international professional societies including the Radiological Society of North America, Society of Nuclear Medicine, and the Chilean Radiology Society.
Dr. Ortega’s main clinical and research interests are in hybrid imaging (PET/CT and PET/MR) for tumour detection as well as in characterization and assessment of response to therapy with functional imaging. Most of her recent publications are focused on prostate molecular imaging and neuroendocrine tumours.
Dr. Ortega enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and travelling – especially back to Chile to see her family, the Andes and the Pacific Ocean).
